Hello, I’m Troy
Our minds can be beautifully efficient at streamlining our everyday tasks into effortless programmed steps. We are capable of driving to work, washing the dishes, or taking a shower without needing to be aware of each step in the process. While this can be convenient for completing mundane tasks, it can be harmful when we are disconnected from our emotional health, communication, and relationships.
I lived much of my life dissociated, not understanding the negative impact. Through therapy, support, and personal practice, I’ve been able to reconnect with my family, friends, and community. Most importantly, however, I’ve rediscovered myself. I know there are others living in blindness to the effects their detachment has on themselves and others.
My art strives to pull my audience out of their mind’s autopilot and into the present moment. It brings awareness to the questions we often overlook. What am I feeling? What is holding me back? How do I show myself love? By allowing the viewer to interact with and experience my work I hope to bring them into the present, if only for a moment, to spark some insight into their true self.
